AEW has a loaded roster full of stars, but there is always the chance that fans will see a new face every week. It turns out that if Tony Khan had his way, fans would have witnessed another debut during the Face of the Revolution ladder match. Sadly, that just didn’t work out for him.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Tony Khan wanted to debut El Hijo de Vikingo during the Face of the Revolution ladder match this week on Dynmaite. They couldn’t make that happen, so they asked for Komander instead. That was a suitable replacement, and it still leaves the door open for a future El Hijo de Vikingo debut.

Tony Khan wanted El Hijo de Vikingo to debut in the ladder match but he wasn’t available so the office asked for Komander. Konnan works with KAOZ and a long time ago told them to put Komander, Dinamico, Sexy Star and Dulce Canela under contract because smaller companies could then sign them and KAOZ may then be blocked from using them, plus KAOZ and AAA work together. The idea was that eventually they would work out a deal where KAOZ allowed them to sign with AAA, although that hasn’t happened yet and wasn’t a priority because AAA can use them now.

Tony Khan has several connections in the pro wrestling business, as AEW has worked well with a couple other companies. That being said, even Tony Khan’s desired plans can’t always come together as he wants them to. Luckily, they were able to figure out a replacement for El Hijo de Vikingo this time around.

El Hijo de Vikingo is an incredibly talented luchador, and he has impressed in every company he’s stepped for into so far. Only time will tell how long it takes before he’s lighting up AEW Dynamite, but the opportunity just didn’t come together this time around.
