Cody Rhodes shook the pro wrestling world when he left his EVP role with AEW to seek out his own fortune. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that he was going back to WWE, and that is exactly what happened. Since his red-hot return, Cody Rhodes suffered an injury that derailed his progress. Now that The American Nightmare’s return is in sight, WWE is surrounding him with good people.

WWE started airing segments for Cody Rhodes a couple of weeks ago, hyping his return at the Royal Rumble. It wouldn’t surprise anyone to see Rhodes show up on January 28th, and he is the current favorite to win the big match.

Since his torn pectoral injury, Cody Rhodes has been rehabbing hard to get back in the ring. It was previously reported that Rhodes was at the WWE Performance Center, and he hand-picked Carmelo Hayes and Joe Gacy to work with to get any ring rust off.

Dave Meltzer also noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jeremy Borash was assigned to work on Cody Rhodes’ hype videos. So, those videos we see on RAW every week were designed by Borash.

Jeremy Borash and Cody Rhodes worked together in Impact Wrestling a few years ago. They have a pre-existing working relationship, and that could have added another element to those high-quality hype vignettes.

We will have to see when Cody Rhodes’ return is announced. Odds are 2023 will be a very big year for The American Nightmare. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more.
