William Regal was one of the many victims of WWE budget cuts under the Vince McMahon regime. Triple H took over the creative direction of the company and rehired Regal.

As previously reported, William Regal started in his new position on January 4, 2023. The Englishman was under an AEW contract when he began negotiations with WWE because he had an opt out clause in his AEW deal.

With Vince McMahon once again back in WWE, it appears that the situation has again taken a different turn, especially for the slew of superstars who were rehired by Triple H.

Dave Meltzer reported during the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live that there had been internal talks about William Regal in the wake of Vince McMahon’s return to the Board of Directors.

Vince McMahon originally wanted to regain control of WWE’s creative division, but that demand was apparently dismissed by the top management. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more from the world of pro wrestling.
