The Icon Sting is set to return to in-ring action in AEW at their next pay-per-view, Full Gear. Sting will team up with Darby Allin to battle Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in a tag team match. However, the announcement made on last night’s episode of AEW dynamite did not receive a warm reception from the fans.

Jeff Jarrett made his AEW debut last week, taking out the former TNT champion Darby Allin. Double J went on to put the entire AEW roster on notice, claiming to put every single person in a body bag including Darby and then his mentor Sting last night on Dynamite. The match was later made official for AEW Full Gear later that night.

“It’s gonna be bad that’s what it’s gonna be,” one fan tweeted out. “Bro sting needs to retire,” another pontificated on Twitter.

This will be Jeff Jarrett’s first match for the promotion. That being said, it looks like the wrestling world did not take this announcement too kindly. The fans expressed their displeasure on Twitter with the news of Sting and Jarrett competing against each other in the tag team.

We will have to see how everything turns out, but it seems that AEW fans aren’t 100% thrilled about this booking direction.

Fans also made a comparison of Tony Khan’s AEW to the vintage TNA promotion back upon the announcement of the match featuring Jeff Jarrett and Sting. TNA (now known as IMPACT Wrestling) featured the likes of Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan back in the day on their television programming.
