Jim Ross is a true veteran in the pro wrestling business, becoming the voice of several generations. He has delivered some of the most iconic moments in the history of pro wrestling.

Ringside News exclusively reported in August 2021 that the eventual plan was to transition Jim Ross off full-time AEW Dynamite commentary. That is exactly what happened in this instance, because the WWE Hall of Famer wasn’t seen this week during Dynamite.

Jim Ross is currently working in AEW, and is also aware of how different things are there compared to his previous place of employment. He was also not present on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Good ol’ JR was present backstage at Dynamite. He just worked the Rampage taping instead.

Jim Ross broadcast Rampage. He was not on the [Dynamite] show. I think this was the first episode of Dynamite he missed other than having the cancer treatment that he was not on the show. He was there, but they just had him do Rampage. I don’t know what the decision-making is, but that was the decision.

It should also be noted that Jim Ross missed a few weeks of AEW television early on in the pandemic. Fans questioned him about his presence during Dynamite, and he made it clear that he was “at work” and getting ready for Rampage.

We will have to wait and see what Jim Ross will do next. For the time being, things in AEW are not going so well. In the meantime, Jim Ross fans will have to wait until Friday to hear his voice.
