Austin Theory has truly found himself in the WWE main roster, as he started out in NXT as part of Johnny Gargano’s stable, The Way. He has honed his craft in a great way and fans can see his growth right before their very eyes. He also recalled a very amusing story featuring John Cena.

Fans know by now that Austin Theory idolizes John Cena, as he always looked up to him as a kid. He has also been trying to take shots at Cena and set up a match with him.

While speaking with Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Austin Theory recalled his first meeting with John Cena. Theory revealed that he showed Cena a bizarre photo of himself wearing bootleg ring gear of Cena’s.

“So the first thing to ever happen when I met John, I was at the Performance Center, we got told to stay a little bit, there’s going to be a meeting. Everybody had to stay after. There was probably about 30-40 of us and in comes John Cena. And I’m just like what the hell is happening?

I came in with a picture of me when I was eight. I had my own off-brand Cena gear because I couldn’t afford the merchandise. But you could tell this kid is trying to dress like John Cena. I showed him and I told him, ‘This is probably going to be weird but I want to show you.’ He was like, ‘That’s not weird at all.’ And I’m sitting there trying to ask for advice and at the same time I don’t know what I’m saying to this guy. It was really cool though.”

Austin Theory also wants to defend his WWE United States Championship against John Cena. WWE also got dragged for considering Austin Theory vs John Cena. It remains to be seen whether the two will duke it out later this year or not.
