Brooke Hogan has already said Hulk Hogan sleeping with one of her best friends changed their relationship forever, but apparently the affair itself wasn’t even the most messed-up part. She says she later discovered her dad was allegedly getting some very private information about her from the woman he was sleeping with.
During an appearance on the Leave Then Cleave podcast, Brooke revisited Hulk’s affair with Christiane Plante, who was also Brooke’s artist rep and someone she considered a best friend. Brooke said she recently mentioned the affair during a Us Weekly interview and was surprised it became huge news again because she thought everybody already knew about it.
Brooke said she actually tried to give Hulk the benefit of the doubt when it came to the affair. What really screwed with her was finding out Christiane had allegedly been pillow-talking with Hulk about Brooke’s own relationship and sex life.
“It’s so crazy because I did an interview with Us Weekly and we were just talking kind of like about life and like, where do you think it changed? And for me, this has always been my story. When we had the TV show, this was the story. People knew this. But I guess I’m that old that people that were not born then, this is all new news to them. I just casually mentioned, they said, ‘When do you think the relationship with you and your dad changed?’ And I said, ‘I think it changed when he slept with my best friend.’ And it was like, boom, news. Like, Hulk Hogan slept with Brooke Hogan’s best friend.
I’m like, I thought you guys already knew that. I didn’t mean to add—but the thing that made it the most hurtful, because I think when you are like us, you’re so understanding, you think about it from like the other person’s—I always think, don’t judge somebody’s actions when you don’t know what options they were given, right? So, like, yeah, that’s probably not the best option, but maybe my dad was in like super mental duress and maybe he wasn’t thinking straight and maybe she came on to him like a vixen and like, who knows, right? Like, I gave my dad the benefit of the doubt the whole time. When I found out that it was connected to her pillow-talking him about my own relationship, about my sex life, about me and the guy I was dating, who was the son of my record label owner.”
That’s when a bunch of weird moments apparently started making sense to Brooke. She said Hulk would sometimes make oddly specific jabs about things happening in her relationship, and at the time she had no clue how the hell he knew any of it. It got so strange that Brooke actually asked her mom whether Hulk could somehow be hacking her phone. She now claims the much simpler explanation was that her best friend was feeding him the information.
“And she was telling him all about what was going on in our relationship. And I’d walk downstairs for filming. And this is where it gets really twisted. Where it goes from being like, okay, they’re unconsciously a narcissist and they’re just being an a**hole to, wow, this can get really dark really fast. I’d come down for filming and he would make like a jab at me about something that like was personal, to the point where I asked my mom, I was like, I know I’m on my own phone plan, but Dad always says he’s like in with the Hells Angels and he’s so connected. And I’m like, ‘Is there a way he could be like hacking my phone or like looking into my Sidekick that I had at the time?’ And she’s like, ‘I don’t know.’”
The crazy part is Brooke says she still had no idea about the affair while all of this was happening. She eventually found out during dinner with her boyfriend in Miami, and the revelation completely blindsided her. Brooke said her boyfriend casually asked whether she still talked to Christiane before mentioning what had happened with “your dad.” Brooke initially thought he meant his own father, only for him to clarify that he was talking about Hulk.
“So, I lose my label. I go to LA, whatever. I get called to do Brooke Knows Best. And I’m like, I get to get back together with Unique. I’m going to tell him I’m coming back to Miami. Like, I was so in love with him. I’m like, I’m coming back. So, we have dinner. And he’s like, ‘Do you still see or talk to Christian?’ And I go, ‘Yeah, I just saw her this morning for brunch.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, I’m surprised,’ you know, ‘with everything with your dad.’ And I thought he said something about his dad. So I was like, ‘Christian and your dad had something going on? What?’ I’m like, I cannot believe she didn’t tell me that, like in girl talk. And he goes, ‘No, your dad.’ And the room went like gray.”
Then came another part Brooke still isn’t buying. She claims Hulk tried to tell her that he didn’t know Christiane was actually her friend, despite Brooke saying the two women were so close that Christiane would literally spend the night in her room. Brooke also said she was paying for their spa trips, lunches and dinners and considered Christiane a genuine best friend, not simply someone she knew through work. So when Hulk allegedly claimed ignorance about their friendship, Brooke’s reaction was pretty simple.
“Now, here’s where the connection really comes in. Christian was my artist rep. That’s how we became friends. But I was paying, even though she was a little older than I was, I was paying for the spa trips. I was paying for the lunches. I was paying for the dinners. We were best friends. She even went on record saying, ‘I lost a true friend.’ My dad was like, ‘I didn’t know she was your friend.’ I’m like, ‘Yes, the f*** you did.’ She was spending the night in my room.”
Brooke previously described the affair as the major turning point in her relationship with Hulk, saying something between them was never quite the same afterwards. Her latest comments make the whole situation sound even uglier, because she says she wasn’t just dealing with her father sleeping with her best friend — she was also unknowingly having her most private relationship details passed between them.
