Tony Khan Misread Fan Reaction To Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti

Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti went from fan favorites to polarizing figures in a matter of months. The two went public with their relationship on New Year’s Day and continue to irate fans with their antics on social media.

AEW President Tony Khan himself admitted that fan reaction to Sammy and Tay is unlike something he’s ever seen. Tony appeared on the Swerve City Podcast to talk about what he thinks of Sammy and Tay.

Since she’s come into AEW, she’s had great matches. Obviously, her presentation has changed and changed and now it’s continued to evolve with Sammy and they’ve found something really special on and off-screen.

It’s great and I’m really happy for them. I was really happy for them, so maybe I misread how happy the fans would be for them. I think I’ve course-corrected that. Course correcting, you don’t try to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Sammy and Tay are getting much-needed rest after their AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship win at TripleMania XXX: Monterrey. The two fought in a four-way with Chik Tormenta & Arez, Lady Maravilla & Latigo, and Komander & Sexy Star.
