Dexter Lumis wasted no time letting the public know he will soon be back in business as Samuel Shaw. Lumis was a part of the recent round of WWE NXT releases. He had been involved in an ongoing feud with on-screen partner Indi Hartwell against Persia Pirotta and Duke Hudson in WWE’s developmental brand. Many were surprised to hear he had been let go before the story was resolved.

Lumis dropped an intense video on social media last night announcing the return of Samuel Shaw. Shaw has been around the block on the independent circuit, having worked in Full Impact Pro, Ring of Honor, and more. He had run-in Impact before going back to the Independents, appearing for the NWA and others, and then signed with WWE in 2019. Now, he’s telling the world that he’s back.

In the new video, he can be seen painting a foam mannequin head. Dressed in a butcher’s apron, he madly applies paint to the head, before posing with a deranged look. Samuel Shaw is looking to project pure intensity.

Dexter Lumis didn’t win any championships during his time with NXT but was a big part of some major storylines. The painting gimmick was a part of his feud with The Undisputed Era, when he was known as “the tortured artist.” That was reflected in the new clip.

Dexter Lumis finally spoke his first words in NXT on the debut episode of NXT 2.o. Lumis married Indi Hartwell, but his faction, The Way, disbanded when Johnny Gargano left WWE. The feud with Persia Pirotta and Hudson was never concluded on TV.

Samuel Shaw will have to sit out his 30-day non-compete period before hitting the road again. He will have no trouble finding bookings, given his experience and WWE pedigree. It looks like wherever he lands, it’s going he plans to bring a new level of ferocity with him.
