The wrestling world is celebrating 20 years of Randy Orton in the WWE. Orton made his in-ring debut this very night exactly two decades ago. Orton picked up the victory in his debut match against Hardcore Holly on SmackDown. He was also christened as a Legend Killer along the way and he paid tribute to the man who made that possible on WWE RAW this week.

Orton entered the ring to a standing ovation tonight on RAW. He thanked the WWE Universe for standing by his side during these past 20 years. Orton also thanked WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley for making him the Legend Killer.

“It’s because of Mick Foley that I became the Legend Killer.”

The hardcore legend took to Twitter to thank Orton for giving a shout out to him on RAW. For those not in the know, Foley and Orton had bloodbath at the 2004 Backlash pay-per-view event.

Thank you for the kind words, Randy. Wow, that was really nice.

Foley elevated the careers of many WWE stars. His contributions to the industry should never be understated. Seeing Orton acknowledge Foley’s impact on his career was heartwarming and we’re very glad they scripted it to happen during the show.
