Austin Theory had a memorable run in NXT where he was part of Johnny Gargano’s stable, The Way. He was then called up to the main roster where his fortunes improved as well. Theory also made an interesting claim recently.

Theory has been involved in a storyline with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon ever since Survivor Series ended last year. Following his initial stint on the main roster, Austin Theory went back to NXT, where he developed his character in a big way as well.

While speaking at WWE’s WrestleMania 38 media row ahead of the match, Austin Theory claimed that he didn’t need McMahon’s help to beat McAfee.

“You know what, there’s a lot of detail right now that I can’t let out,” he said. “That’s why I am in the position that I am in, you know what I mean? I know what you’re trying to do, you want to know if Mr. McMahon is going to help me on Sunday, I don’t need any help. It’s Pat McAfee, it’s a guy that I don’t have to prepare for. It’s a guy that’s had to literally prepare so much for me, and he’s still not going to be prepared.”

Austin Theory squared off against Pat McAfee at WrestleMania 38 Night 2. He would end up getting defeated by McAfee as well. So it seems what he said has not aged well whatsoever.
