Adam Cole planted the seeds for his next major feud on last night’s AEW Dynamite. After Adam Page’s brutal Texas Death Match with Lance Archer, Cole came out to the ring and picked up the AEW World Championship. The title was then firmly placed back on Hangman’s shoulder, signaling Adam’s intentions to make a run for the belt.

It’s a huge, high-profile match that the fans will be chomping at the bit to see. Many have criticized AEW for not including Adam Cole in feuds that are serious enough. This should quench that desire admirably.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the setup for the match. Dave also noted that it appears obvious that AEW is setting up a rematch between CM Punk and MJF. The Revolution pay-per-view build is starting to take shape.

“There’s nothing official, but they pretty much made it clear at the end of the show, after Rampage was over, and not on the air, they pretty much said that it’s Adam Cole… They brought in Adam Cole at the end of the show. Tony, he didn’t quite say it, but if you watched the show, you knew it was coming. It’s Adam Cole and Adam Page, and I presume that’s going to be on the pay-per-view.

I know that’s Adam Page’s next championship defense will be Adam Cole. The pay-per-view is March 6, so now we’re only a couple of weeks away. I’m presuming that’s the pay-per-view main event. It looks, from tonight’s show, like CM Punk and MJF are going to do a rematch, which I guess would be a stipulation match in some form. I don’t know what the stip would be. But, some sort of a rematch.”

Hangman Page has had a handful of barbaric matches in his first few title defenses. The AEW World Champion will now start to build his program with Adam Cole. AEW fans have been waiting for Cole to get his shot for a long time, and it should make for some entertaining wrestling.
