Konnan was once considered Mexico’s answer to Hulk Hogan. The former nWo member made a name for himself in the U.S. while wrestling for WCW in the 1990s. K Dogg recently had a serious health scare that resulted in heart surgery. After-effects from a COVID-19 infection have left Konnan in very ill health.

Konnan’s heart surgery was successful. The luchador is now waiting on a new kidney. There are a couple of perspective donors. It’s just a matter of making sure they’re compatible.

Dave Meltzer gave an update on Konnan’s health situation in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Konnan’s kidney issues have been getting worse. Complications have forced him to go on dialysis.

“Konnan’s health issues coming out of heart surgery are very serious because of the kidney issues that have worsened. Right now he has two prospective kidney donors but they have to see if he is compatible with one of them. Because his kidneys have weakened there have been complications and he now has to go on dialysis.”

The kidney issues sound very serious. Konnan will be in for a fight. The outspoken wrestling star is more than up for it.

COVID-19 has had a wide-ranging effect on the world of professional wrestling. The entire industry has felt the wrath of the pandemic. Hopefully, Konnan can get that much-needed kidney transplant so he can overcome the horrible long-term effects of the virus.
