WWE held the 2022 Royal Rumble event last night and the Women’s Royal Rumble match saw a lot of returns to the company. Most of those returns were one-off appearances, but they had even more people ready to go if needed.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE had a few people backstage who flew in for the Royal Rumble that never saw time on television. They were there as potential backups, but WWE didn’t need them for the show.

I guess Aksana and Jillian Hall were there for potential backups and Io was there. I mean, Io could have helped this match a lot.

Kaitlyn was also there and it is presumed that she was a backup. It is unclear why WWE picked the people they did for the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, but they had some people around just in case they needed to pull off a quick replacement.
