William Regal is one of the most respected people in all of professional wrestling. Nobody was better between the ropes. Regal also became incredibly popular as the on-screen authority figure for WWE NXT. His Lordship was unfortunately cut by the company as part of a major overhaul of their developmental brand.

Today marks the 29th anniversary of William Regal’s first appearance on American television. Jim Ross interviewed him on a WCW broadcast. Regal could not have known how far his journey would take him.

Regal made a Twitter post today to commemorate the special occasion. The wrestling legend thanked everyone who helped him along the way to international stardom. William Regal appreciates those who took the time to help him.

“I arrived in the US on Jan 23rd 1993.29 years ago today I did my 1st TV for WCW being interviewed by @JRsBBQ. Thank you to everyone who’s helped me have this charmed life and career in the US.A special thx to everyone in the UK & Europe before then who helped me in the Wrestling”

William Regal was a four-time WWE European Champion. He also captured the Intercontinental title twice, the Hardcore Championship five times, and was a four-time tag champ with three different partners. Regal famously held the WCW World Television Championship on three occasions.

Regal was one of the most influential wrestlers of his era. A trusted backstage hand who could play any role given to him; his career will be remembered fondly no matter what the future has in store. William Regal is grateful for all of it.
