Jake Atlas finally got a chance to do things his way after being released by WWE. Jake recently signed contract with All Elite Wrestling. Atlas was set to make his national television debut for the company at last night’s AEW Rampage taping against fellow NXT alum Adam Cole. Things did not go as he hoped.

Atlas suffered an apparent knee injury during the bout. Fans in attendance said it looked like it might be serious. Jake was unable to even stand up to take the Panama Sunrise from Adam Cole. Bryan Alvarez gave an update on Atlas’ condition on last night’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

“[Jake Atlas] suffered a knee injury. I don’t know… I was told that he needed an MRI and it’s possible that he’s going to be alright. But he was hurting really bad in that match.

Couldn’t even get up to take the Panama Sunrise. So, hopefully… You know… First big match for AEW outside of the YouTube show, so hopefully he’s alright.”

Jake was in a great deal of pain after tweaking the knee. Alvarez thinks the injury may be minor. Atlas will find out more once he knows the results of his MRI.

The injury to Jake Atlas placed another unfortunate damper on what was set to be a huge night for Tony Khan’s promotion. Rey Fenix suffered terrible injury to his arm during the Lucha Brothers’ tag team title defense against Jurassic Express. An evening of great wrestling action was sadly hampered by two unfortunate injuries.
