Eddie Kingston opened the eyes of a lot of wrestling fans after his match with CM Punk at AEW Full Gear. After willing his way into a contract with the company at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kingston eventually made it into a main event-caliber feud with the Second City Saint. Now, he’s got even higher ambitions.

Kingston recently spoke to CBS Sports. In addition to talking about his thoughts on the Jon Moxley situation, Kingston spoke about his own career goals. He said he wants to be the AEW World Champion.

“New milestones, of course. [The goal] to be the top guy in AEW. I reached one goal, I made it to AEW, contracted, make it a living. My nephew can show people on the TNT app, there’s a plug, or on the AEW YouTube there’s another plug, he gets to show off that his uncle is a wrestler. I reached one goal.

The next goal is to be the top guy, to be the champion, to be the guy on the posters. The guy that is AEW. That’s what Kenny [Omega] was. That’s what Mox was. That was what [Chris] Jericho was, and that’s what ‘Hangman’ [Adam Page] is now. That’s always the goal.”

The Mad King also talked about his struggles with depression and anxiety. Eddie said that Jon Moxley seeking help for his alcohol problem and being more open about his own struggles is helping to stamp out toxic masculinity in wrestling. He continues to inspire fans with his story.

Eddie Kingston has held his share of gold on the independent circuit. Now, he has his sights set on the biggest prize available to him. Eddie Kingston is hoping to become the top guy in AEW.
