It’s been two years since WWE last released a main-line wrestling game. The 2020 version was famously plagued by bugs and said by many to be unplayable. Developer Visual Concepts went back to the drawing board after the dismal failures.

The company is now nearing completion of WWE 2K22. The new game brings with it very high expectations. It might be the company’s last chance at a WWE title if this one bombs. Drew McIntyre talked to Sean Sapp of Fightful about his thoughts on the upcoming release.

“It’s been awesome and ongoing for a while. I’ve been filming some different stuff for it, filming some liners, doing the scans. There has really been a lot of effort into this game. I think the last one, how things turned out, they weren’t great.

They owned that and know that and are making sure this one is absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to play because I know how hard they’ve been working on it and it’s going to be friggin’ awesome when it comes out. “

The game is expected to be released in early 2022. There have been some delays due to the massive amount of turnover on the WWE roster. Impatient fans are expecting a much better gaming experience.

Acknowledging the mess that the recent games in the series were awful is a good first step. Of course, Drew’s word should be taken with a grain of salt since he works for WWE. Once the game is released, we’ll know for sure how seriously the company took the game. You can watch Drew McIntyre’s full comments below.
