Tegan Nox was one of the many unfortunate victims of WWE’s latest round of mass releases. After the Welsh superstar got called up to the WWE main roster after 2-year run in NXT, she was placed in a tag team with Shotzi Blackheart. The two went on to defeat Women’s Tag champs Natalya and Tamina in several matches, but never received a title shot.

Shortly after, the team was split up in the WWE draft. Tegan was released on November 18. Now, she’s letting her fans on Twitter know that she’ll soon be revisiting one of her old identities.

“Nixon
Newell.”

Nox used the Nixon Newell name during her time in the UK independents. It followed her for the rest of her career before signing with WWE in 2017 and being given the Tegan Nox name. Now, she’s going back to the future.

The tag team of Tegan Nox and Shotzi showed plenty of promise. It’s amazing that they had the team defeat the champions multiple times and never allowed them to get any kind of payoff. Tegan was just one of those wrestlers who could get over but fell through the cracks for whatever reason.

After she waits out her non-compete period, she’ll be back on the independent circuit. We may even see Nixon Newell in AEW or Impact. She’s a talented wrestler with a lot of experience and should be able to find a good landing spot.
