WWE saw a few interesting contract issues in recent months and it came back to bite them. Adam Cole got out of his deal, but he did sign short extension which saw him with NXT through TakeOver: 36. Then he showed up at All Out. Malakai Black was also able to arrive in AEW 35 days after his release due to a clerical error on WWE’s part. There is some heat for those mistakes.

It was previously reported that Canyon Ceman is believed to have been fired due to this oversight. Fightful Select followed up on the contract situation in WWE and revealed that there is some serious heat on those for “falling asleep at the wheel” with WWE contract situations.

We’re told that there was significant heat in relation to people “falling asleep at the wheel” with the details and planning of NXT contracts, and we were told those were handled accordingly. We’ve been told this isn’t as much of an issue with the main roster, as several wrestlers had spoken with Vince McMahon directly about their deals.

A lot of the contract confusion comes from NXT, but there is also an issue when transitioning Superstars from those developmental contracts to the main roster. This led to some mistakes and WWE isn’t in a position where they can make too make mistakes with their contracts.
