Adam Cole had a tremendous time in NXT after making his debut back in 2017. He was part of many significant moments and matches during his time in NXT and that will always remain a fact.

Adam Cole was done with NXT after TakeOver 36 and right after that, Adam Cole’s WWE contract also expired, which made him free agent. He also did not sign another contract with WWE, which gave him the freedom to go to whichever company he chose to.

Cole decided where he wanted to go in the end and that was AEW, as he debuted at AEW All Out and sided with his Elite stable The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

While speaking during the post-All Out media conference, Adam Cole revealed that he was genuinely surprised his WWE expired so early as he expected he had another 6 months left.

“Yeah so, funny enough, believe it or not, I was also surprised. Yeah, I was under the impression that it was like six months later. So it was a surprise to me. It was a surprise to them. It was public knowledge for a lot of people that I had signed a little extension, I was in the middle of a really serious angle with Kyle O’Reilly, which was very important to me. He’s one of my best friends in the entire world. Then after that is when stuff kind of opened up for me, but very surprising to me. It was just as surprising to me.”

Adam Cole also stated that joining AEW was fairly easy decision for him. We will have to wait and see how he will be booked in AEW in the coming months.
