WWE history is full of memorable moments, and John Cena’s main roster debut was one everyone remembers. He walked right up to Kurt Angle, and after introducing himself, he declared that “ruthless aggression” separated him from the pack before punching The Olympic Hero. This was the start of John Cena’s WWE career. They paid tribute to that in a big way this week on NXT.

Carmelo Hayes, formerly known as Christian Casanova, made his way to the ring as a surprise for Adam Cole. Both Cole and O’Reilly were told that they had to pick their own opponents for NXT this week. O’Reilly picked KUSHIDA, but Cole didn’t want to pick anyone.

Hayes made himself known in a big way and picked himself as Cole’s opponent. When he was asked what set him apart from the pack, Hayes replied “ruthless aggression!” Then he punched Adam Cole in the face.

This makes Carmelo Hayes the “John Cena” and Cole the “Kurt Angle” in this situation. Before Hayes hit Cole, he also said, “same energy.” We’ll have to see if they can both live up to that level, but this was certainly a nice callback during NXT.
