Joey Votes dropped the update on WrestleVotes Radio while breaking down Rollins’ strange absence from television. Rollins hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since losing to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam, but he already returned to the ring during WWE’s South American tour earlier this month. That means this isn’t about Rollins sitting on the sidelines unable to compete. According to Joey, creative already has his comeback lined up and is simply holding it back for the moment.
“All right, one more for you guys in a Seth Rollins update. While he hasn’t been seen on WWE television since his loss to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam, Rollins did return to action two weeks ago during the company’s South American tour. In speaking with the source, it was relayed to us that Rollins is currently being kept off TV as creative waits for the right moment to bring him back. With plans for his return already lined up and ready to go, it’s worth noting that according to a source, Rollins was at one point set to be part of the Money in the Bank PLE. Though that appears those plans have since shifted, a source noted that his return to television shouldn’t be that far off.”
That’s where things get interesting. Rollins was at one point expected to be part of Money in the Bank, but that part of the equation has changed even though WWE apparently still has his TV return ready to go.
Ringside News previously covered the real reason Seth Rollins disappeared from WWE television after SummerSlam, with his absence tied to creative plans rather than an injury. That became even clearer when Rollins returned to the ring during WWE’s South America tour, proving he was physically ready to work. Joey then zeroed in on the obvious question. If WWE already has something ready for Rollins, why keep one of its biggest stars sitting off television?
“So TC feels like, according to our sources, they’ve got something ready for Seth Rollins. What is it? What could it possibly be that he’s not allowed, kayfabe-wise, storyline-wise, to come back yet? What are they waiting for?”
TC didn’t have an answer for what WWE is holding back, but he did point out how rough this could look for fans in New Orleans. If Rollins isn’t part of Money in the Bank after the city already lost WrestleMania, that’s another major name potentially disappearing from the replacement event.
“It’s a good question, and I don’t have an answer for you, but I do have a thought that if I am someone who was looking forward to going to WrestleMania in New Orleans and now you’re on this microphone telling me, Joey Votes, that maybe I’m not getting Punk, maybe I’m not getting Rollins. I’m pretty PO’d about the situation that’s unfolding at Money in the Bank, given all the high hopes I had.”
The good news for Seth Rollins fans is that this doesn’t sound like WWE is searching for something to do with him. The plan is apparently sitting there waiting, and his return to television isn’t expected to be far away.
Now WWE just has to decide when to hit the button. Rollins has already proven he can wrestle, creative apparently has his comeback mapped out, and the longer he stays away, the bigger the mystery around what WWE has waiting for him becomes.
