Lucha Underground isn’t coming back, but its spiritual successor might be on the way. We previously reported on efforts to revive the Lucha Underground spirit and a new program could be on the way to do just that.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the idea for Azteca Underground is to bring back as much of the Lucha Underground roster as possible. It all depends on whether they can secure a television deal.

“The goal is absolutely Azteca Underground, and the goal is to make it like Lucha Underground with as many people from the original show as they can get. That’s the idea behind it. You know, if they can get a TV deal. Everything depends on if you get a TV deal then you can make it work if you get the right deal.”

A lot of the Lucha Underground roster are spread out throughout various companies right now. They might not be able to get a whole lot of people to come back, but Ivelisse is available after getting axed by AEW.
