Kairi Sane’s expected move to AEW has been dragging on without a deal getting finalized, but there may finally be an explanation for what’s holding things up. Despite months of speculation surrounding the former WWE star, a new update suggests the delay could have nothing to do with negotiations and everything to do with her visa.

According to Dave Meltzer in the October 18 edition of the Wrestling Observer’s Daily Update, the belief is that Kairi is waiting for her visa to come through before moving forward with AEW.

“The belief is Kairi is waiting for her visa to come in regarding AEW. She can work the Jericho Cruise because that will be in the waters rather than U.S. soil.”

That would explain why Kairi continues to be linked to AEW without actually signing a contract. As Ringside News previously covered, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp recently confirmed that Kairi had still not signed with AEW despite strong expectations that she would eventually join the company.

“She has not yet though. Just has not yet.”

Kairi is also scheduled to appear on Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise, which has only fueled speculation about her future. Meltzer’s update provides a possible explanation for how she could participate in that event while still waiting for the paperwork needed for an AEW run in the United States. However, her ability to work the cruise would ultimately depend on the specific visa and immigration requirements involved.

There has been plenty of interest in Kairi’s next move, with AEW remaining a potential destination for months. The latest information suggests that immigration paperwork could be one of the obstacles preventing things from moving forward, although there’s still no confirmation that a deal has been completed or when her visa situation might be resolved.

For now, Kairi’s AEW future remains unfinished business. The interest appears to be there, and the expectations haven’t gone away, but if Meltzer’s information is accurate, the biggest obstacle might be something neither Kairi nor AEW can speed up. Until her visa situation is sorted out and a contract is signed, fans will have to keep waiting to see where she lands.

Do you think Kairi Sane will eventually join AEW once her visa situation is resolved, or could this extended delay open the door for another company to make a move? Let us know what you think in the comments.
