WWE released Zelina Vega because she would not quit her third party activity. She was making more off social media than from her WWE contract. This was an easy decision for her, but it meant WWE let her go in the process.

Jon Alba recently spoke with SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris. She stated that they are going to make contact with pro wrestlers and fight to help protect them when their employers won’t

“Wrestling is as much about media as it is sports, and we are going to directly engage with members of this profession to help find ways for them to protect themselves.”

“As more people reinvest in unions, as as more working people are harassed by employers who don’t want to protect them, SAG-AFTRA is committed to doing what we can to help professional wrestlers secure the protections they deserve.”

Alba made a point to say that her statement did not just apply to WWE talent. He also noted that: “I generally shy away from hyperbole, but I don’t think it’s crazy to suggest this could be the beginning of a major movement in pro wrestling history.”

We’ll have to see if this could go to have some big changes in pro wrestling down the line. It certainly appears that they are on the right track.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
