Ringside News has learned that Retribution didn’t show up at Payback simply because it wouldn’t have fit with anything they had planned for the night. It is not a sign at all of WWE losing faith in the faction of masked invaders.

Payback was supposed to end with Roman Reigns getting all the focus. An invasion would have cluttered things, no mater where it took place during the show.

The Retribution angle is not dropped at all. They will be back, but as we previously reported anything can happen at this stage. Vince McMahon’s idea for Retribution came on a whim and they are booking things week-to-week.

Renee Paquette and CM Punk even called attention to the fact that Retribution was absent from Payback. Punk said they were watching hockey game. For all we know those six NXT Superstars could have been watching the NHL post season.
