Matt Cardona On Haters Saying AEW Only Hired Him Because He’s Cody’s Friend

Matt Cardona and Cody Rhodes are friends in real life. Cody and Brandi Rhodes are the two people who convinced Cardona to ask out his now-fiance Chelsea Green. Cardona wanted to make it 100% clear that AEW didn’t hire him just because of his friendship with the American Nightmare.

While speaking with Sportskeeda, Matt Cardona stated that he wants to prove his supporters right, not his haters wrong. He said that he doesn’t deal with the haters who say that he was only hired because he’s friends with an AEW EVP.

“I’m sure there’ some haters out there. He’s Cody’s friend, he’s the ex-WWE guy, whatever. I don’t, I don’t deal with the haters. I don’t care about proving haters wrong. I want to prove my supporters right. That’s what this is all about.”

Matt Cardona is off to good start. He picked up a win and debuted a new name for his finisher on Dynamite this week. He will likely be laying down Radio Silence for a long time to come if he has anything to say about it.

Cody and Cardona are friends which likely helped matters tremendously for the former Zack Ryder. Matt Cardona wants to focus on proving why he made it to AEW apart from those relationships outside the pro wrestling business.
