WWE wanted to record the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever early. There was reportedly an injury in the process.

Ringside News EXCLUSIVELY reported that Edge vs Randy Orton was rushed to have the match at Backlash. The previous plan called for a SummerSlam encounter.

Fightful is reporting that there are currently “murmurs” that Edge suffered an injury during his Backlash match against Randy Orton. It is noted that “several in the company” stated that Edge suffered a triceps injury.

At this time the word coming from backstage is that Edge suffered the injury, but it hasn’t been confirmed by WWE. The company’s doctor has yet to confirm this injury as well.

It’s unclear how this injury might have changed the Backlash match. Edge vs Randy Orton went a very long time during their match. It should be worth watching for this added drama.

Edge signed an amazing contract when he returned to WWE. Backlash marks the third match of 2020 that he was contracted to wrestle. We’ll have to see when he returns following this match against The Viper.
