Jeffrey Jones (All Elite Wrestling)
AEW sought out to present an alternative professional wrestling product. They are now entering 2020 with a huge lineup in store for Daily’s Place.
While speaking to Yahoo Sports, Cody Rhodes discussed All Elite Wrestling’s mindset. They want to be an alternative, but their focus is also to be fun.
“We don’t think about it being different, our focus is fun, and something like that was really fun.”
When it comes to AEW’s direct competition on Wednesday nights, they aren’t concerned with WWE NXT.
“There’s a romantic way to look at the ratings and say ‘Here we are, it’s the late 1990s again. Every Thursday let’s check ‘em.’ It’s fun to look at the ratings but I know internally we’re not having any pep rally speeches. Our concern is not NXT and I believe NXT’s concern is not us.”
We’ll have to wait and see what AEW has in store for fans in 2020. Hopefully, the new year and additions like Arn Anderson will help improve the product.
It doesn’t sound like Cody Rhodes is concerned with WWE NXT either. This is one of the reasons why he asked for the competitor’s show not be played in the Go Position backstage during Dynamite.
