WWE TLC is on December 15th and since the company was running out of time they needed to book some matches this week. One match they ended up going with was actually a change of plans.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that The Revival were not supposed to be in the SmackDown Tag Team Title match at TLC. It was originally going to be Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler, but they were busy.

“The idea a couple of days ago was that The New Day was going to defend against Roode and Ziggler. That was up in the air so they decided to do a four-way without Roode and Ziggler because Roode and Ziggler were occupied with Corbin and Roman Reigns.”

The fact that these plans seemed to change for TLC could give more weight to the idea that WWE was messing with The Revival by releasing four people today. Now The New Day will be defending their titles against The Top Guys while Roode and Ziggler could play role in King Corbin’s court at WWE TLC.
