WWE’s SmackDown Live show this week was reportedly one of the messiest writing situations in recent memory. There is a reason for that and it all boils down to what Vince McMahon thought about the original script.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that SmackDown Live was re-written just hours before the show. In fact, they were still working on the second hour during the show’s first hour.

This change came because McMahon didn’t feel like WWE writers did a good enough job following up from the previous week’s episode. He also did not feel as if it built toward Summerslam properly either.

Vince McMahon got what he wanted because he is ultimately the man in charge. Therefore, his writers needed to work very hard to concoct a new script for the show and apparently, they barely pulled it off.
