Jericho welcomes his friend, Jack Slade, to the show to discuss this Sunday’s Money in the Bank PPV.

Jericho says he’s still surprised that WWE is calling Becky Lynch “Becky Two Belts” because for years the term “belt” was banned in WWE. Vince McMahon hated when people called his Title a “belt” or a “strap” because it makes it sound like something that can be bought at J.C. Penney.

Jericho informs that he actually invented the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. It was a few weeks before WrestleMania in 2005 and there were a number of notable talents who didn’t have a program or a match at ‘Mania and WWE was trying to come up with something to do.

Jericho thought it’d be a cool idea to have a multi-man ladder match and passed his idea along to Brian Gewirtz, a member of the creative team at the time. Gewirtz asked Jericho what would be at stake in the match, and Jericho said a chance to face the Champion the following night on RAW.

They eventually thought it’d even better to make the prize a contract that can be cashed in at any point during the year. They mentioned this idea to Vince McMahon, who loved it, and then he came up with the idea to put the contract into a briefcase.

Getting into this year’s show, Jericho thinks Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari are two great superstars who will have a good match. He thinks Nese will retain here. He notes that life is still tough for WWE Cruiserweights right now when it comes to getting over, and he thinks that has a lot to do with McMahon having a lack of interest in what they’re doing.

Jericho is looking forward to the United States Title match between Samoa Joe and Rey Mysterio. He notes that he’s know Rey’s son, Dominic, a long time and it’s been cool to see him grow into a strapping young lad over the years. He thinks Rey will win this match and he thinks we might see Dominic get involved in some fashion to help his father.

Jericho thought Kevin Owens’ heel turn was quick, as he would have liked to see Owens remain in The New Day for a while longer. He notes that he doesn’t really like Kofi Kingston continuing to throw pancakes into the crowd as Champion, but he admits that the fun-loving antics are what got Kofi to the dance in the first place.

He thinks WWE will keep the Title on Kingston here because it’d be a shame to take it off of him this soon. He’s also not sure what WWE would do with Kingston creatively if they took the Title off of him, since he just climbed a huge mountain to finally get to the top of WWE.

Jericho predicts we’ll see another huge bump from Shane McMahon during his cage match with The Miz. He thinks we’ll see a Superplex from the top of the cage, with Miz then landing on Shane and getting the pin. Alternatively, he thinks it’d be interesting if Miz delivers the suplex and breaks the ring with the impact of both bodies crashing down.

Jericho doesn’t think Becky Lynch will retain both of her Titles on Sunday. He predicts she’ll win her first match and then lose the second one. He thinks she’ll face and defeat Charlotte first in a lengthy battle, and then Charlotte will attack her with a chair. This will leave Lynch beaten down in the middle of the ring only for a McMahon to announce that the second match will be starting right away. This will allow Lacey Evans to take advantage of the situation and win the RAW Women’s Title.

Jericho says the Roman Reigns/Elias match excites him less than everything else on the show. He notes that Reigns shouldn’t be involved with Elias because when you’re established at the top of the card you should stay there. Jericho likes Elias’ character but thinks it needs to evolve and adds that Elias still isn’t great in the ring. He thinks this match will end with a quick win for Reigns.

Moving into the Women’s MITB ladder match, Jericho thinks Ember Moon will win here. He thinks WWE should give her a chance right out of the blue and see how she handles it. Alternatively, he could see someone like Mandy Rose winning.

On the men’s side, he notes that there’s a lot of strong contenders. The first MITB match only had 6 wrestlers involved but this one has 8, which is a lot of people in one match. He thinks either Sami Zayn or Drew McIntyre will win here, but gives an outside chance to Baron Corbin as well because WWE is”pushing the hell out of him”.

Jericho also likes Ricochet’s chances, but he doesn’t think McMahon believes in Ricochet yet since we haven’t seen him a cut a promo on television. He notes that Mustafa Ali and Ricochet will likely steal the show with some high spots during this match.

Jericho is expecting a lot from the Seth Rollins/A.J. Styles match because they’re two of the best workers in the company. He thinks Rollins will retain here, and he thinks we’ll see someone interfere here to set up a new feud for A.J. Styles.

Jericho predicts that Sami Zayn will win the MITB contract earlier in the show and cash it in at the end of this match to win the WWE Universal Title.

That sums up this week’s episode of Talk is Jericho. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
