Brock Lesnar was supposed to wrap up his latest WWE run at the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. He was set in a triple threat match against Braun Strowman and Universal Champion Roman Reigns — but Roman had to take a leave of absence to fight leukemia. This certainly sent the WWE Crown Jewel Universal Title match into a situation where a change needed to be made.
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it is believed a new deal between WWE and Lesnar took place on October 18th, however the terms are being kept a secret. Reigns made his leukemia announcement on the October 22nd edition of Raw meaning WWE certainly knew about it at least a few days in advance.
As we previously reported, Lesnar’s current deal is set to run through WrestleMania and he will be permitted to work UFC events in the meantime if he chooses to.
However, it was also noted that Lesnar is out of TLC and “it is not clear if he will be at Royal Rumble.” Only time will tell when WWE books Lesnar’s next title defense, but it looks like he’ll at least be walking into the new year as Universal Champion.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
