In the UFC 25th Anniversary Press Conference previewing the fights for the next few months, the UFC played a spine tingling promo right at the end to formally announce the fight that everyone has been waiting for: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor for the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 229.

However, in a presser line up that included the returning Nate Diaz and widely regarded number one contender Dustin Poirier, Conor and Khabib were conspicuously absent. Other fighters present included Anthony Smith, Volkan Oezdemir, Glover Texiera, Jimi Manuwa, James Vick, Justin Gaethje, Derek Brunson, Israel Adesanya, Women’s Flyweight Champion Nicco Montano, Valentina Shevchenko, Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Darren Till.

It is expected that the UFC would set up a presser just for the two of them in the immediate future, to get the promotional ball rolling for the fight.
