Zoey Serrano is officially done launching herself through the air like she did in WWE. After a brutal knee injury put her career in serious jeopardy, the former Zoey Stark says the missile dropkick is dead — and she has zero plans to bring it back.
While speaking to Ring the Belle, Serrano made that crystal clear while looking back at her old WWE offense and talking about what fans should expect from her now. When the missile dropkick came up, she shut the door immediately.
“It’s done. It is out. There is no more missile dropkick in my future.”
That isn’t some minor move change either. Serrano went through hell with her knee, spent months away from wrestling and even reached a point where she feared she might never get back inside the ring. Her recovery eventually got her medically cleared, but WWE released her shortly afterward. Now that Serrano has a fresh start, she’s not interested in gambling with her body the same way again.
When the interviewer pressed her about what that means for her wrestling style, Serrano doubled down and made it clear that her days of constantly leaving her feet are over.
“These feet are staying on the ground. I might do a nip-up. I might do cool little up-and-over flippity-dah thing, but other than that, yeah, feet are on the ground where I can control everything.”
That doesn’t mean Serrano is planning to become safer and softer in the ring. It’s basically the opposite — she wants to lean harder into beating people up instead of trying to fly around them. Serrano said she’s one of the bigger women on many cards anyway, so there’s no reason she can’t start throwing opponents around and build a nastier, more physical style around that.
“Brutality, baby. You’re going to see newer moves, newer suplexes. I’m actually kind of one of the bigger girls as far as size-wise, so I’m able to throw people around. I really don’t need to do the high-flying thing. And I just want to focus on character work.”
The character part might be just as important as the wrestling change. Serrano has already admitted she lost herself during her WWE run, and she has been open about wanting this next chapter to feel much more like the real person behind the performer. She also brought back the Zoey Serrano name after leaving WWE and has already started making noise outside the company, including her surprise TNA appearance where she attacked Indi Hartwell.
Serrano paid a nasty price for the high-risk style she used in WWE, and she clearly learned from it. She still wants brutality, big moves and chaos — she just wants both feet underneath her when she’s doing it.
What do you think of Zoey Serrano ditching the missile dropkick and rebuilding her style around power and brutality instead? Let us know what you think and leave your feedback in the comments.
