Xelina is back in the ring, smiling again, and she’s not sugarcoating just how bad things got before WWE let her go. The former Zelina Vega admitted she was “very much miserable” toward the end of her WWE run, and judging by the reaction she’s getting now, that unhappiness may have been a lot easier to see than she realized.
The subject came up during the latest episode of ZELVX and CHARLIE GIRL after the conversation turned to how different she looks since getting back in the ring. Xelina said plenty of people have told her she looks happier now, which made her wonder what exactly everyone thought they were seeing before.
“And a lot of people said that that I look really happy and I’m like, did I just look f**ing miserable before?”*
That joke quickly turned serious. Xelina admitted there was a very real reason people may have noticed such a drastic change in her.
“Well, no. I mean, to be honest, to be honest, like I could see that because I was like towards the end, like I very much was miserable.”
The host told Xelina that kind of unhappiness has a way of showing through whether someone means for it to or not. She also pointed out that Xelina now looks like she’s genuinely having fun again instead of simply going through the motions.
“And it shines through. You don’t think of whether it does or not either, but you must have just been having so much fun that it just like made you like glowy.”
Xelina didn’t disagree with that assessment. Instead, she joked that she now has the “wrestling glow” after finally getting back to doing what she loves.
“Yeah. So, like that wrestling glow, you know?”
Things got even more interesting when the discussion moved into why she might look so much happier now. The host brought up Xelina getting to wrestle, be creative, have fun and work alongside her friends before stopping herself from taking the comparison to her previous situation any further.
“When you actually get to do it.”
“Yeah. And be creative and have fun and like work with your friends all the time. I mean, not, you know, like you could before, too, but there’s — I’m not saying anything else.”
Xelina wasn’t looking to drag things out either. She simply made it clear that she has been enjoying this chapter of her career a whole lot more.
“Thank you. I did have a lot of fun. I did have a lot of fun.”
Those comments come after WWE released Zelina Vega during its post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts in April. She later started working under the Xelina name and wasted little time getting back into the wrestling world on her own terms. Her first major step came when Xelina booked her first post-WWE match with House of Glory. She then won her first match since leaving WWE at House of Glory’s Fallout event on September 4, defeating Shayna Baszler and Brittnie Brooks in a three-way match.
Xelina isn’t dancing around how she felt anymore. She was miserable toward the end, she knows people could see it, and now that she’s wrestling again on her own terms, the difference is apparently written all over her face.
What do you think was behind Xelina feeling so miserable toward the end of her WWE run, and have you noticed a difference in her since she returned to the ring? Let us know what you think in the comments.
