Fans were never supposed to see Tiffany Stratton in the Interim Women’s Championship ladder match at SummerSlam.
According to False Finish, WWE’s original plan called for Tiffany Stratton to defend the Women’s United States Championship against Blake Monroe at SummerSlam before creative was forced in another direction.
That match would’ve been Monroe’s biggest opportunity since arriving on the main roster and given Stratton a featured singles title defense on one of the company’s biggest shows of the year. Instead, those plans quietly disappeared.
The change stemmed from Rhea Ripley’s torn meniscus, which forced WWE to rebuild the women’s side of the SummerSlam card. With Ripley unable to compete, the company opted to crown an interim champion, opening a spot for Stratton in the ladder match instead of having her defend the Women’s United States Championship.
The Stratton-Monroe bout never made it to television, meaning fans had no indication it was ever under consideration until now. Whether WWE circles back to the match after SummerSlam remains to be seen, but if the report is accurate, Blake Monroe came much closer to a championship opportunity than anyone realized.
