WWE has filed a new trademark that is already raising questions about future plans for its expanding roster.

On June 8, WWE officially applied to trademark the name “Reina Volcan,” a Spanish phrase that translates to “Volcano Queen” in English. While WWE has not revealed who the name is intended for, the filing contains the standard language the company typically uses when securing ring names, character names, or nicknames for talent.

The trademark application covers a wide range of wrestling-related entertainment services, including live wrestling performances, television and internet broadcasts, fan club activities, newsletters, blogs, and sports entertainment content.

“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

The timing of the filing is particularly interesting given WWE’s growing relationship with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. The company has become increasingly involved with AAA programming, and many fans immediately began wondering whether “Reina Volcan” could be connected to a current or future AAA talent.

AAA recently wrapped up its Noche de Los Grandes event, where the second week was headlined by Lola Vice, Bayley, and La Catalina defeating Lady Flammer, La Hiedra, and Maravilla. Flammer currently holds AAA’s Reina de Reinas Championship, making the trademark filing even more intriguing given the promotion’s women’s division.

Of course, the name may have nothing to do with AAA at all. WWE routinely trademarks names for NXT prospects, developmental talent, repackaged performers, and future characters before any public announcement is made.

The filing also comes while WWE’s Queen of the Ring tournament is underway. Current Women’s World Champion IYO SKY, Raquel Rodriguez, and Liv Morgan have already advanced to the semifinals, with the tournament set to conclude at Night of Champions 2026 on June 27.

For now, WWE has not provided any clues about who “Reina Volcan” is or where the name might eventually appear. However, trademark filings have often provided an early look into WWE’s creative plans, making this one worth keeping an eye on in the weeks ahead.

Who do you think WWE’s “Reina Volcan” trademark is intended for? Could it be connected to AAA, NXT, or a future main roster debut? Share your thoughts and feedback below.
