WWE fans hoping for NXT UK to come back might want to lower expectations — because it doesn’t sound like that’s happening anytime soon.
During a Q&A session, WrestleVotes was asked whether WWE’s recent UK tryouts could lead to NXT UK returning or WWE expanding into another international market. The answer was pretty clear: not right now.
“Not at this time, just based on financials. TKO Group Holdings is looking to save money in all regards, so they won’t be opening up Performance Centers or things like that in the UK or any other international location right now.”
That means WWE may still be scouting talent overseas, but actually rebuilding a UK brand or opening another international setup is a different story. Under TKO, the focus is on saving money — not launching new Performance Centers abroad.
WrestleVotes also made it clear this isn’t about whether the idea ever existed. WWE has talked about international expansion before, but the timing just doesn’t fit the current business approach.
“I know the idea was out there, but that was years ago—it’s just not the time for it.”
TC added that WWE’s current view of the UK market may also be part of the issue. Instead of building a full brand overseas, WWE would rather have talent come through its existing system.
“The UK market isn’t really there for it. They’d rather have those people come to them than go overseas.”
WWE announced NXT Europe in 2022 after ending NXT UK. The goal was to rebuild the brand and create more chances for European wrestlers. Because of this change, many NXT UK wrestlers were let go, but the plan was delayed for a long time.
Bottom line — the UK tryouts don’t mean NXT UK is coming back, and they don’t point to WWE launching a new international brand either. WWE is still looking for talent, but under TKO’s cost-cutting mindset, expansion just isn’t the priority.
Do you think WWE should bring back NXT UK, or is it smarter for the company to keep international talent moving through its current system? Let us know your thoughts.
