With SummerSlam only days away, WWE has a pretty good idea of who’s walking out with gold. The interesting part? Two of the biggest matches on the entire weekend apparently still don’t have everyone convinced.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the current expectation backstage is that CM Punk will leave Minneapolis with the Undisputed WWE Championship still around his waist, while Roman Reigns is also expected to survive SummerSlam as World Heavyweight Champion.
Those aren’t the only names sitting in a good spot heading into the weekend. The same source says Oba Femi is currently favored to defeat Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell, while GUNTHER, Trick Williams and Chad Gable are also expected to have their hands raised when it’s all over.
But don’t mistake that for WWE having the entire show figured out. According to the report, two matches are still causing the biggest debate internally. The Women’s Championship Ladder Match is considered too close to call, and the same goes for Finn Bálor vs. Sami Zayn, with neither bout said to have a clear favorite as creative continues working through final plans.
Nothing has been officially finalized, and creative plans can always shift before bell time. But as things stand just two days before SummerSlam, WWE knows how most of the weekend ends… while two of the biggest matches remain complete question marks.
