WWE SmackDown Results (8/7/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show opens up with a video package recapping this past weekend’s WWE SummerSlam PLE.

Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett then welcomes us to SmackDown and we see the pre-show arrivals of Trick Williams, Baron Corbin, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin.

Cody Rhodes’ music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Rhodes then grabs the mic and starts off by saying he is looking for Randy Orton. Rhodes then calls out Orton and says he wants to do it face-to-face. Rhodes then says while we wait he wants to know what Philadelphia wants to talk about. Rhodes then says he remembers Dory Funk Jr. Rhodes then reflects on losing to Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk at SummerSlam. Rhodes then says he is going to assume Punk didn’t know Orton was going to hit him with an RKO.

CM Punk’s music then hits and Punk makes his way out. Rhodes then asks Punk if he knew about Orton’s plans. Punk then says it kind of hurts, but he didn’t know Orton was there at SummerSlam. Punk then says he’s pretty pissed about it too. Punk then says he can help Rhodes find Orton and beat his ass. Rhodes then says he’s going to find Orton and kick his ass by himself. As Rhodes looks to leave, Punk tells him to just say when he wants his rematch. Kevin Owens’ music then hits and he makes his way out to interrupt Punk and Rhodes.

Owens then comes face-to-face with Punk and Nick Aldis makes his way out. Punk and Owens then tell Aldis they can handle this like professionals. Punk then asks Owens if he is here to claim his title shot. Owens says he wrestles in shorts, not pants. Owens then says he does want to wrestle Punk and that is all he wanted to do for the last 17 months. Owens then says that is a long time to be told you might never get a chance to do what you love again. Owens then says he didn’t choose. Owens then says he was forced to leave and he lived in uncertainty. Owens then says he has proven people wrong his entire career and here he is.

Owens then turns his attention to Punk. Owens then says Punk proved him right. Owens then says he’s been hearing people saying, “Phil’s changed and you gotta give him a second chance.” Owens then says he never bought it because he knows who Punk is. Owens then says can’t believe Punk is handing Cody Rhodes a rematch when he’s next in line for the Undisputed WWE Champion. Owens then calls Punk an arrogant sociopath. Punk then says this is one of the reasons why the WWE Universe still loves him. Punk then says some people may not like the fact that he’s the Best in the World. Punk then says his title means he’s the Best in the World.

Punk then says Owens can appreciate his arrogance because it benefited people like him. Owens then says it’s been 10 years since he last held a world title in WWE. Owens then says now he doesn’t just get to win the title, but he gets to humble Punk and beat his ass for it. Punk then says it’s good to have impossible dreams. Punk then says he thinks Owens is scared. Punk then says Owens wouldn’t even be in here if it wasn’t for him. Punk then says he recalls Owens calling him for WWE tickets for him and his family. Owens then admits he should be grateful. Owens then says he should thank Punk as he showed him what not to become and how not to treat people around him.

Owens then says Punk must be so lonely on the pedestal he put him on. Owens then says he’s not a miserable piece of s*** like Punk. Owens then shoves Punk, forcing Aldis and the officials to separate them. Owens then tells Aldis to do it.

Cathy is with Charlotte Flair. She asks about her and Jade. Flair says it has been years. They went face to face when she arrived. She showed strength and that she wanted to be the top girl. Tonight, she is fighting for Lexi. You have her attention after telling Lexi’s daughter that her mommy will be okay. She tells Jade to come alone.

Trick Williams tells Baron he is getting his rematch. The only reason you have the title is because you cheated and took short cuts. You don’t have what it takes to beat him. He will beat Corbin down and he will do it for himself.
