WWE SmackDown Results (8/7/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens up with a video package recapping this past weekend’s WWE SummerSlam PLE.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett then welcomes us to SmackDown and we see the pre-show arrivals of Trick Williams, Baron Corbin, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin.
Cody Rhodes’ music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Rhodes then grabs the mic and starts off by saying he is looking for Randy Orton. Rhodes then calls out Orton and says he wants to do it face-to-face. Rhodes then says while we wait he wants to know what Philadelphia wants to talk about. Rhodes then says he remembers Dory Funk Jr. Rhodes then reflects on losing to Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk at SummerSlam. Rhodes then says he is going to assume Punk didn’t know Orton was going to hit him with an RKO.
CM Punk’s music then hits and Punk makes his way out. Rhodes then asks Punk if he knew about Orton’s plans. Punk then says it kind of hurts, but he didn’t know Orton was there at SummerSlam. Punk then says he’s pretty pissed about it too. Punk then says he can help Rhodes find Orton and beat his ass. Rhodes then says he’s going to find Orton and kick his ass by himself. As Rhodes looks to leave, Punk tells him to just say when he wants his rematch.
Kevin Owens’ music then hits and he makes his way out to interrupt Punk and Rhodes. Owens then comes face-to-face with Punk and Nick Aldis makes his way out. Punk and Owens then tell Aldis they can handle this like professionals. Punk then asks Owens if he is here to claim his title shot. Owens says he wrestles in shorts, not pants. Owens then says he does want to wrestle Punk and that is all he wanted to do for the last 17 months. Owens then says that is a long time to be told you might never get a chance to do what you love again. Owens then says he didn’t choose. Owens then says he was forced to leave and he lived in uncertainty. Owens then says he has proven people wrong his entire career and here he is.
Owens then turns his attention to Punk. Owens then says Punk proved him right. Owens then says he’s been hearing people saying, “Phil’s changed and you gotta give him a second chance.” Owens then says he never bought it because he knows who Punk is. Owens then says can’t believe Punk is handing Cody Rhodes a rematch when he’s next in line for the Undisputed WWE Champion. Owens then calls Punk an arrogant sociopath. Punk then says this is one of the reasons why the WWE Universe still loves him. Punk then says some people may not like the fact that he’s the Best in the World. Punk then says his title means he’s the Best in the World.
Punk then says Owens can appreciate his arrogance because it benefited people like him. Owens then says it’s been 10 years since he last held a world title in WWE. Owens then says now he doesn’t just get to win the title, but he gets to humble Punk and beat his ass for it. Punk then says it’s good to have impossible dreams. Punk then says he thinks Owens is scared. Punk then says Owens wouldn’t even be in here if it wasn’t for him. Punk then says he recalls Owens calling him for WWE tickets for him and his family. Owens then admits he should be grateful. Owens then says he should thank Punk as he showed him what not to become and how not to treat people around him.
Owens then says Punk must be so lonely on the pedestal he put him on. Owens then says he’s not a miserable piece of s*** like Punk. Owens then shoves Punk, forcing Aldis and the officials to separate them. Owens then tells Aldis to do it.
We then see Cathy Kelley with Charlotte Flair. She asks Flair about herself and Jade. Flair says it has been years. Flair then says they went face-to-face when she arrived. Flair then says she showed strength and she wanted to be the top girl. Flair then says tonight she is fighting for Alexa Bliss. Flair then says you have her attention after telling Bliss’ daughter that her mommy will be okay. Flair then tells Jade to come alone.
We then see Trick Williams and he tells Baron Corbin he is getting his rematch. Williams then says the only reason you have the title is because you cheated and took short cuts. Williams then says you don’t have what it takes to beat him. Williams then says he will beat Corbin down and he will do it for himself, Lil Yachty, his title and the coach. Williams then says he’s going to whoop that a**.
Trick Williams then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night. and Baron Corbin follows.
WWE United States Championship Match: Baron Corbin (c) vs. Trick Williams
The match starts off with Trick Williams hitting a flying clothesline. The fight then spills to the outside. Williams then sends Baron Corbin into the post and he hits a chop. Williams then sends Corbin over the barricade. Williams then launches himself over the timekeeper’s area, wiping out Corbin. Williams then continues the beatdown on Corbin. Back in the ring, Williams hits a shoulder tackle. Corbin then hits Williams into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Williams tries to fight back, but he runs into an elbow. Corbin then sends Williams into the corner, but Williams hits Corbin with a spinning heel kick.
Williams then hits a Trick Slap and he stomps Corbin in the corner. Williams then hoists Corbin and hits him with an AA on the canvas for a near fall. Corbin then runs into a Trick Kick. Corbin then hits Williams with a Deep Six for a near fall. Both men then trade strikes in the middle of the ring. Williams then hits a jumping neckbreaker. Williams then sends Corbin to the outside. Corbin then sends Williams into the steel steps. Corbin then takes the United States Championship, but the referee tells him to stop. Williams then hits Corbin with a Book End for another near fall. Williams then hits a Trick Shot, but Corbin survives.
Corbin then rolls out of the ring. Corbin grabbed the ropes at the right time. Corbin then nails Williams with the United States Title behind the referee’s back for the win.

We then see Nick Aldis on the phone and Sami Zayn shows up and says he wanted to congratulate Nick on his SummerSlam performance. Sami then says he wants to know how many times he will be screwed over by Nick. Sami then says he would have been champion if he didn’t add CM Punk in Chicago. Sami then says he would be #1 contender if he didn’t add GUNTHER and Kevin Owens. Kevin then shows up and Nick says they have stuff to deal with. Kevin says he wants his title match in Toronto on August 21st. Kevin then welcomes Sami back and says Sami doesn’t look sincere.
Sami then says he is happy to see Kevin back. Sami then says now you have a title match with a chance to win the title in Toronto. Sami then says he wants Kevin to say that his return screwed Sami. Kevin then says it messed things up for Sami. Sami then says he wants him to say he is sorry. Kevin then says he is sorry it affected him, but you would have done the same in his situation. Kevin then says he won his last match before his injury and it was against you. Sami then says he wants to see Kevin win the title, more than Punk. Kevin then says he doesn’t want Sami’s help. Sami then tells Kevin he won’t stop chasing what he wants because it is what you want.
We then see Cathy Kelley and she stops Baron Corbin in the back and asks about the two upsets. Baron says he is insulted that he would be the underdog. Baron then says is it because nobody believed him. Baron then says he hopes the doubters feel stupid. Baron then says Trick will never get his hands on this title again. Baron then says there is a no man in the locker room who can step to him. Carmelo Hayes then shows up and he attacks Corbin. Hayes then says next week they are meeting for the title in his hometown.
Chelsea Green’s music then hits and she makes her way down to the ring as the new WWE Women’s Champion. Green then grabs a mic and starts off by saying she loves the WWE Universe. Green then says she appreciates her fans for sticking with her and pledging their allegiance. Green then says they are huge part of the reason she walked out of SummerSlam as the new WWE Women’s Champion. Green then thanks Tiffany Stratton and calls her out to the ring. Stratton’s music then hits and she makes her way down to the ring.
Green says she is sorry for what happened on Sunday, but wants to know if their friendship is stronger than that. Green then says she called Stratton out because she wants to make toast for the strong female friendship. Stratton says she wants to talk to Green about something, but they are interrupted by Fatal Influence. Jacy Jayne says if it wasn’t for Stratton, she would be standing in the ring as the WWE Women’s Champion. Lainey Reid then says all the Fatal Influence members would be draped in gold. Fallon Henley then says she can’t believe Green is out here representing SmackDown. She then says she doesn’t think Green deserves it.
Jayne then says Fatal Influence is not out here to ruin Green’s moment. Jayne then stakes her claim on the Women’s United States Championship. Stratton then accepts the challenge, but on one condition. Stratton then says she wants a tag team title match against Fatal Influence tonight and Jayne accepts.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Fatal Influence (Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley) (c) vs. WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green and WWE Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton
The match starts off with Chelsea Green and Lainey Reid locking up. Green then rolls out of the ring. Back in the ring, Green misses an elbow and Reid misses a senton. Tiffany Stratton then comes in and Green sends Stratton into Reid against the corner. Fallon Henley then comes in and she hits a back elbow to Stratton and follows it up with a kick. Stratton then hits a cutter. Green is now the legal woman and both women hit a double stomp on the back of their opponents. They then follow it up with a double suicide dive. Green then hits a German Suplex to Reid and she tags Stratton in.
Stratton then hits a series of clotheslines to Reid and she follows it up with an elbow strike. Stratton then wipes Henley out. Stratton then hits Reid with an Alabama Slam. Stratton then heads to the top rope and she hits a Swanton Bomb. Henley then hits a right hand. Reid then hits a kick to Green. Green then tosses Reid across the ring. Green then hits Henley with a cutter. Jayne then knocks Green out with a Rolling Encore. Stratton then sends Jayne into the barricade. Back in the ring, Henley slides through the ropes, taking out Stratton. Reid and Henley then hits Green with a Fatal Flaw for the win.

After the match, Lash Legend ambushes Stratton. Nia Jax then joins in on the beatdown and Jax grabs the WWE Women’s Championship and brings it to the ring. Jax then stands over Green with the WWE Women’s Championship.
We then see Cathy Kelley in the backstage area and she is with Damian Priest. Priest says he and R-Truth have already beaten the MFTs. Priest then says it’s the same thing over and over again. Priest then admits the level of threat is a little bit different now that Haku has aligned himself with the MFTs. The War Raiders then walk up to Damian Priest and claim they will be double champions. They then say they want to teach the MFTs a lesson about respect. R-Truth then says they are not scared of anyone. R-Truth then says he wants to defend the WWE Tag Team Championships against the War Raiders and the MFTs next week. Priest then says he can’t believe Nick Aldis didn’t talk about putting the AAA World Tag Team Titles on the line.
Randy Orton’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Orton then grabs a mic, but before he can say anything Cody Rhodes cuts Orton off and storms down to the ring. Orton then escapes and Rhodes says he wants Orton in the ring right now. Orton then backs off again. Nick Aldis then makes his way out with officials. Rhodes then says Orton owes him an explanation. Orton then says he doesn’t owe Rhodes anything. Orton then says Rhodes asked for it. Orton then recalls Rhodes giving him the permission to be the best version of himself. Orton then says he gave the best version of himself at WrestleMania 42. Orton then says Rhodes beat him.
Orton then congratulates Rhodes, but says in that moment something snapped. Orton then says the voices told him to do whatever he had to do to put Rhodes down. Orton then says he doesn’t care who holds the Undisputed WWE Championship. Orton then says he’s going to do everything he can to make sure that Rhodes is never WWE Champion again. Orton then says he realized that the best version of himself wasn’t going to bring home number 15, but the worst version of Orton can and will. Rhodes then says he’s not held to the championship standards anymore. Rhodes then teases a heel turn, saying he doesn’t have to be the good guy anymore. Rhodes then says forget about the title. Rhodes then says Orton is the last legend left in WWE. Rhodes then asks, “Who kills you?”
We then see Sami Zayn in the backstage area and he is going off in front of Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano. Zayn says he has to earn his way back in again. Zayn then admits he’s a little jealous of Kevin Owens because he gets to tell CM Punk what a fraud he is. We then see CM Punk standing behind Zayn and he says Zayn has got a big mouth when he’s not around. Punk then says Owens got the decency to say it to his face. Zayn then says Punk’s days as Undisputed WWE Champion are numbered. Zayn then says he has a broken bone in his hand otherwise, he would have broken Punk’s face right now. Punk then says Zayn is back in the line and Owens will lose to him.
We then see Jade Cargill speaking with B-Fab and Michin. Cathy Kelley then walks up to them and asks them about their thoughts on Charlotte Flair. B-Fab says they don’t care about Flair. She then says Flair will learn to keep her mouth shut. Michin then says she thinks Flair is jealous of Cargill because she is the greatest wrestler of all time and the only thing missing is the WWE Women’s Title around her waist. Cargill then vows to whoop Flair’s a** and end this disrespect.
Nikki Bella then cuts a promo and says she tried to be so supportive of her sister and she made the unselfish act for a friend. Nikki then says she brought in Paige. Nikki then says Brie deserved better. Nikki then says she came back to fight beside her sister. Nikki then says Paige failed them again. Nikki then says that was the final straw. Nikki then says because of you her sister is hurt. Nikki then says she will make sure that you feel the pain. Nikki then says whatever career you have left will be pure miserable.
It is then announced that next week Jacy Jayne faces Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s U.S. Title, R-Truth and Damian Priest defend the tag titles against the War Raiders and MFT and Carmelo Hayes faces Baron Corbin for the U.S. Title.
We then get a video package to hype up the return of Shinsuke Nakamura and he puts the MFTs on notice. Shinsuke Nakamura tells the MFT you think you have evolved. Nakamura then says you have a new leader, but you have past enemies. Nakamura then says you need to remember who he is. Nakamura then says he is the King of Strong Style. Nakamura then says he is back and this time he will not be alone. Nakamura then says he is starting a war and he is not a one man army. Nakamura then says they will show who are warriors and who are pawns.
Charlotte Flair then makes her way down to the ring for the main event of the night and Jade Cargill follows with B-Fab and. Michin.
Singles Match: “The Queen” Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill
The match starts off with both women locking up. The fight then spills to the outside Jade Cargill then sends Charlotte Flair’s lower back against the apron. Back in the ring, Cargill hits a shoulder tackle. Flair then chops Cargill down and hits her with a kick. Flair then hits a running knee. Cargill then sends Flair into the announce table. Cargill then sends Flair over the barrier. Back in the ring, Cargill stomps Flair and hits her with a snap suplex. Flair then tries to fight back with a series of chops, but Cargill hits her with a spinning Bossman Slam.
Cargill then hits an uppercut. Flair then tries to fight back with a series of elbows. Flair then goes for a Sleeper Hold, but Cargill hits her with a Spinebuster for a near fall. Flair then hits a German Suplex and both women are down. Both women are now going back and forth. Flair and Cargill are then exchanging strikes in the middle of the ring. Flair then a series of chops. Cargill then fights back with a Pump Kick for a near fall. Cargill then runs into a big boot. Flair then heads to the top rope and she hits a crossbody. Cargill then targets her Flair’s midsection and she hits a kick. Cargill then hits a Spinning Slam for a near fall.
Cargill then heads to the top rope, but Flair cuts her off. Cargill then hits Flair with an Avalanche Bomb. Cargill then slaps the taste out of Flair’s mouth. Flair then takes Cargill out with a superkick and she applies a Figure Eight in the middle of the ring. We then see The Baddies at ringside. Alexa Bliss then returns with her Lily doll. The lights then go out and we see Tatum Paxley on the top rope. Paxley then takes out the Baddies with a Crossbody. Back in the ring, Flair escapes a power bomb and she hits a Sister Abigail. Flair then goes up top and she hits a Natural Selection for the win.

After the match, Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss enter the ring to celebrate with Charlotte Flair. All three women then stand tall inside the ring as the show comes to a close.
