WWE NXT Results (6/16/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens up with Vic Joseph and Corey Graves welcoming us as we see the pre-show arrivals of Jaida Parker, Nattie, Nikkita Lyons and Karmen Petrovic.
We then get a video package looking back at last week’s episode of WWE NXT.
New WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion ZARIA then makes her way down to the ring. ZARIA starts off by saying she spent so long living in Sol Ruca’s shadow that she forgot what the sun even looked like. ZARIA then says she set the women’s division ablaze. ZARIA then says she was treated like an afterthought, but she did it on her own. ZARIA then says she thinks Sol Ruca stole her spotlight. ZARIA then says the future is in her hands. ZARIA then says she doesn’t think she owes anyone gratitude.
Kelani Jordan then makes her way out to interrupt ZARIA. Jordan then congratulates ZARIA on becoming the WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion. ZARIA then asks Jordan if she wants a shot at her title. Jordan then says she is there to offer ZARIA advice. Jordan then says no matter what ZARIA will do, it will never be good enough. Jordan then says if she was ZARIA, she would hold on to the NXT Women’s North American Championship very close. Jordan then talks about Lola Vice facing Kendal Grey at the NXT Great American Bash.
Kendal Grey then makes her way out and says Jordan acts like they have unfinished business, but they don’t. Grey then promises to walk out of NXT Great American Bash as the new WWE NXT Women’s Champion. Grey then says she is open to giving Jordan a shot after the PLE. Lola Vice then makes her way out and she tells ZARIA to get over Sol Ruca already. Vice then turns her attention to Grey. Vice then reminds Grey that she beat her before and that she will beat her again. Robert Stone then makes his way out, but Vice cuts the NXT General Manager off and says the two teams will face each other tonight.
We then see Tavion Heights and Jackson Drake warming up as they will face each other next.
Tavion Heights then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Jackson Drake follows with Swipe Right and Myka Lockwood.
WWE NXT North American Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Tavion Heights vs. The Vanity Project’s Jackson Drake
The match starts off with Tavion Heights hitting a shoulder tackle. Heights then slams Jackson Drake into the mat. Heights then tosses Drake across the ring and he follows it up with a fallaway slam. Drake then tries to fight back, but Heights tosses him across the ring again. Height then drives his shoulder into the midsection of Drake. The Vanity Project then tries to interfere, allowing Drake to hit a knee. Drake then sends Heights into the steel steps. Back in the ring, drake stomps on Heights’ hands. Drake then hits an Irish whip to Heights.
Heights then hits a German Suplex to Drake for a near fall. Heights then applies a side headlock. Drake then tries to fight back, but Heights throws him again. Both men are now down after a collision. Heights is now fired up. Heights then hits belly-to-belly suplex to Drake and he follows it up with a clothesline for a near fall. Drake then hits Heights with a cutter and he follows it up with a Standing Shooting Star for another near fall. Drake then hits a suicide dive to Heights on the outside. Back in the ring, Drake heads to the top rope, but Heights counters with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Heights then follows it up with a Splash for a two count.
Heights then throws Drake outside the ring, wiping out The Vanity Project and Myka Lockwood. Myles Borne then enters the fray and takes out The Vanity Project. Back in the ring, Heights hits Drake with a Heights of Glory for the win.
The winner and new #1 Contender to the WWE NXT North American Championship, Tavion Heights!
After the match, Myles Borne raises Tavion Heights’ hand and Heights pulls it down and he tells Borne he can do it by himself.
We then see Robert Stone with Aaron Rourke, Matt Matthews and Hank & Tank to talk about the Mr. NXT pageant. BirthRight then shows up and Lexis King says they are respecting them by putting Arianna Grace in the Speed Tournament. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo then tells them to leave while Hank and Tank suggest a match. Stone then says he wants BirthRight to leave.
Thea Hail then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Izzi Dame follows with The Culling.
