Velveteen Dream’s name is coming up in a big way, because he was recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center. What he was doing there is the big question.
BWE reported that Velveteen Dream has been going through therapy and progressing well. He recently paid a visit to the WWE Performance Center, and although he hasn’t officially signed, he was present there last night. However, we haven’t been able to verify any further details apart from the confirmation that he remains unsigned.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that they have been told that WWE has zero intentions on re-signing Velveteen Dream at this time. In fact, it would be a shock if that did happen.
When speaking to a higher up in WWE, they stated that they have no interest in re-signing Patrick Clark/Velveteen Dream at this time, and something very shocking would have to take place for something like that to happen. Dream had numerous infractions, issues, and controversies while in NXT — from him being accused of filming fellow wrestlers in the bathroom without their consent, arrests, accusations of recklessness in matches, wellness violations and the like.
One talent reportedly told that outlet that, “I haven’t seen him around and haven’t heard anything from anybody about him being around. I’m sure it’s possible, but not from what I’ve seen or heard.”
Another talent reportedly said about Velveteen Dream that, “I don’t think he would get a job back after everything that’s happened. I honestly don’t think it’s true, but I’m not there anymore, so I don’t know. But I never heard of someone not in the company chillin’ at the Performance Center unless they were in talks to sign or is signing officially.”
One talent mentioned that they were at the WWE Performance Center all day on Monday and neither saw nor heard of him being there. They clarified that the PC consists of two buildings, and that they had been there the entire day without any sign of him. They also mentioned that they wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him showing up unannounced during the evening production meeting.
Another NXT talent, who is present daily, also confirmed not having seen him at the WWE PC. Furthermore, another talent shared a similar sentiment expressed by many, stating, “I have not seen him nor heard that name in some time. That would surprise me, honestly.”
Velveteen Dream would certainly be a controversial signing to bring back. There is a reason why #FireVelveteeDream trended on social media whenever he was around.
Dream was accused of sending inappropriate messages and media to minors. WWE said they did an investigation and found nothing. That won’t stop fans from calling for the company to release the former NXT North American Champion. There were a lot of other issues along the way, including a cocaine problem, and he was eventually let go.
Only time will tell if Velveteen Dream is able to make a return to WWE television. At this point, he is certainly getting a lot of attention just by his reported presence.
