Nick Aldis is finally getting back in the ring, and he has the Ring General in his sights.

According to PWInsider, GUNTHER vs. Nick Aldis is now “100% set” for SummerSlam, with WWE sources confirming the match is locked in for next month’s Premium Live Event in Minneapolis. If everything stays on track, it’ll be Aldis’ first WWE match since arriving as SmackDown General Manager.

It was starting to feel inevitable, too. The moment Aldis returned from administrative leave last week, GUNTHER was waiting for him. He wanted answers. More specifically, he wanted Aldis to fix what he believed was an unfair roadblock standing between him and the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Instead, Aldis gave him something else. He announced that GUNTHER would team with Sami Zayn against CM Punk and Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event. GUNTHER didn’t even wait for the show to move on.

He stormed Aldis, wrapped him in a chokehold and held on while officials desperately tried to rip him away. The longer GUNTHER refused to let go, the clearer it became that this wasn’t a disagreement between a wrestler and a General Manager anymore. It had become personal.

Now it looks like WWE is ready to let them finish it. The possibility of a SummerSlam match has been hanging over this rivalry for weeks. We had previously reported that WWE was building toward Aldis finally stepping back into the ring, but at the time it was still just the expected direction.

After weeks of suspensions, confrontations, backstage arguments and outright assaults, Aldis is trading the suit for wrestling gear. And if GUNTHER thought intimidating the SmackDown General Manager would get him what he wanted, he may have just talked himself into the one fight Aldis can no longer avoid.

Do you think Nick Aldis should wrestle more after SummerSlam, or should this be a one-time showdown with GUNTHER? Let us know in the comments below.
