Brock Rechsteiner may be dealing with a six-game NFL suspension, but WWE apparently has zero concern about what that means for his future in professional wrestling. The company has already been watching Scott Steiner’s son for years, and one WWE higher-up believes an offer is essentially guaranteed whenever Rechsteiner decides his football career is finished.
According to Fightful Select, Rechsteiner still wants to see how far he can go in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints before turning his attention to wrestling. However, he has openly discussed pursuing professional wrestling after football and has already communicated to WWE that he would be interested in joining the company when the time comes. One WWE higher-up put the chances of that happening about as close to a guarantee as possible.

That same WWE source indicated Rechsteiner’s current NFL suspension would likely have no impact on the company’s willingness to sign him. WWE had already been keeping tabs on the 6-foot-2, 225-pound wide receiver throughout his college football career and is said to have heard only good things about him.
WWE also apparently doesn’t expect Rechsteiner to go through the traditional tryout process. Fightful states the expectation within the company is that he would be signed outright whenever his NFL career ends rather than having to prove himself at a WWE tryout first.
The interest isn’t exactly surprising considering Rechsteiner’s family. He is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner and the cousin of current WWE star Bron Breakker, giving WWE the possibility of adding another member of the Steiner family to its roster.
For now, Rechsteiner’s priority remains football. He signed with the Saints after earning an opportunity as an undrafted free agent and will be allowed to participate in training camp and the preseason before his six-game suspension takes effect when NFL rosters are reduced to 53 players.
Whatever happens with his NFL run, WWE seems prepared to wait. Rechsteiner has already expressed interest in wrestling, WWE has followed him for years, and the company apparently views signing Scott Steiner’s son as close to a sure thing once football is behind him.
