Drew McIntyre’s WWE comeback picture is finally starting to take shape, and there could be a major brand switch waiting for him when he walks back through the curtain. After months away from television while piling up Hollywood work, WWE has started discussing ideas that would bring the former WWE Champion back as a member of the Monday Night RAW roster.

According to WrestleVotes via Fightful Select, creative discussions are taking place regarding McIntyre returning on RAW instead of heading back to SmackDown. The thinking inside WWE is that RAW could benefit more from adding a star at McIntyre’s level than SmackDown currently would.

That isn’t the first comeback plan WWE has considered for McIntyre either. WWE had creative in place to bring him back into the fold in late August, but those plans were dropped after the company changed direction before the return happened.

That detail makes the current RAW discussions especially interesting. WWE was already close enough to McIntyre’s return months ago to have creative prepared, meaning his absence hasn’t simply been a case of the company waiting around for him to become available.

McIntyre has also been extremely busy away from WWE. He told Fightful that he has filmed three movies since stepping away from WWE’s road schedule, adding even more context to why one of the company’s biggest stars has disappeared from weekly television for so long.

The latest creative talk comes after McIntyre was spotted at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, where he met with company officials and filmed promotional material connected to WWE’s upcoming “micro dramas.” Jacob Fatu and Joe Hendry are also expected to be involved in those projects.

McIntyre hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since losing to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania XLII in April 2026. Ringside News previously covered how McIntyre’s WWE absence was connected to his growing Hollywood schedule, while his agent later made it clear that WWE remained McIntyre’s priority despite his acting opportunities.

Things started moving again once McIntyre returned to the United States after completing some of those projects. At the time, McIntyre being back in the country still didn’t mean WWE had finalized creative plans for him, but there were already signs that he was getting himself ready.

Sean Ross Sapp later said McIntyre admitted that being away from wrestling was getting to him and that he wished he could have taken part in WWE’s South American tour.

“He said that he really missed wrestling and he really wished that he could have worked a South American tour.”

McIntyre also gave fans their own clue on September 25 when he posted footage of himself running the ropes. He didn’t bother with a long explanation.

“Reps.”

Now the situation has gone from training footage and a WWE HQ appearance to actual discussions about where McIntyre could land when he returns. RAW is currently being talked about as the destination, and WWE already tried to get a comeback plan moving once before everything changed in late August.

Nothing is official until McIntyre actually walks through the curtain, but WWE clearly hasn’t forgotten about the Scottish Warrior while he’s been off making movies. If these RAW discussions stick this time, one of WWE’s biggest missing stars could be headed straight into a brand that the company apparently believes needs him more.

Would moving Drew McIntyre to Monday Night RAW be the right call, and who should be waiting for him when he finally returns? Let us know what you think in the comments.
