Drew McIntyre may have another movie project coming, but his agent is making it clear that WWE is still the priority.
Nick LoPiccolo took to Twitter/X after fans started talking about Drew’s acting work and his WWE absence. Instead of making it sound like McIntyre is just doing whatever he wants outside the company, LoPiccolo said the opposite. He said Drew is a wrestler first, WWE’s needs come first, and his outside work is built around that.
LoPiccolo said fans did not even know when Drew was filming Highlander or another secret event movie until now, which was his way of pointing out that these things have been happening without disrupting WWE’s side of the equation.
“You didn’t even know when Drew was filming Highlander or the secret event movie until now. Drew is a wrestler first. We respect what WWE wants and where they need him. This new movie is the exception, and they were incredibly gracious. I work around their schedule by default.”
That is the big line here. LoPiccolo is saying the new movie is the exception, not the rule, and that WWE was “incredibly gracious” about it. He also made it clear that he works around WWE’s schedule by default.
That matters because McIntyre’s name has been tied to more movie work lately. LoPiccolo previously teased that Drew had another movie “in the can,” while also hinting that fans have not heard the whole story yet.
“Drew secretly has another movie in the can too. That one hasn’t even started annoying people yet. The ledger keeps getting uglier, but let’s not ruin all the surprises.”
McIntyre has already been linked to Russell Crowe’s upcoming action movie The Last Druid, which is filming in Spain. He also worked with Crowe on Amazon MGM’s Highlander reboot, so Drew’s film résumé is clearly growing.
Still, LoPiccolo is pushing back on the idea that Hollywood is taking over everything. His message was that Drew’s movie work is being handled around WWE, not the other way around.
LoPiccolo also responded to a fan who said they would wait for The Observer to report the movie news before believing it. His answer suggested the official reveal may still be a while away.
“You’ll be waiting until the end of the year.”
Drew McIntyre’s acting career may be picking up, but Nick is not framing it like Drew has moved on from wrestling. He says Drew is a wrestler first, WWE is still respected in the process, and this latest movie situation was something WWE worked with him on.
