WWE’s two-night SummerSlam experiment is not exactly setting the ticket market on fire, and that could create a major problem for the company’s next big expansion idea.

SummerSlam is being stretched across two stadium nights, but the ticket push has been slower than expected with the event closing in. That raises a bigger question about how many WWE shows fans are actually willing to buy twice in the same weekend. That is where Royal Rumble comes into the picture.

Ringside News has learned that WWE has already discussed turning the Royal Rumble into a two-night event. Nothing has been finalized, but the idea has been on the table as the company continues looking for ways to expand its biggest premium live events.

The format would be easy to split. WWE could place the men’s Royal Rumble match on one night, the women’s match on the other, and build separate cards around both. The real issue is whether the demand is there.

Two arena nights could be possible, but trying to fill a stadium on back-to-back nights would be a much bigger gamble. SummerSlam’s weak push may force WWE to think twice before making another major event a full-weekend commitment.

WrestleMania has proven it can support two nights, but that does not mean every top WWE event can pull off the same trick. Royal Rumble may have the structure for it, but SummerSlam could end up being the test that decides whether WWE ever goes through with the idea.

WWE has discussed a two-night Royal Rumble, but whether it actually happens may depend on how badly SummerSlam’s current ticket push finishes. Ringside News will continue to keep up updated if the two-night stance has changed.

Do you think WWE will eventually make Royal Rumble a two-night event, or will SummerSlam’s slow sales stop that idea cold? Leave your feedback in the comments.
