Will Ospreay woke up the morning after AEW Redemption with Kenny Omega’s attack still fresh in his mind, and he didn’t need a long statement to fire back.
Ospreay posted a photo of himself shaking hands with the AEW World Champion and sent a simple warning about what comes next.
“Game on.”
The photo was taken moments before Omega pulled Ospreay off the ropes and planted him with the One Winged Angel to close the pay-per-view. The Young Bucks then entered the ring and posed alongside Omega as The Elite, leaving Ospreay flat after he had just saved the champion from a brutal Death Riders attack.
Ospreay had stormed the ring after Claudio Castagnoli wrapped a chair around Omega’s head. He chased off the Death Riders, rejected a plastic bag handed to him by Jon Moxley and dropped Moxley with a forearm before wiping out the rest of the group.
Once the threat was gone, Ospreay removed his Death Riders kneepad, picked up the AEW World Championship and handed it back to Omega. The two shook hands, appearing to put their issues aside until Omega suddenly struck.
The attack came after Omega successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Kevin Knight in the main event. Knight pushed Omega to the limit and nearly stole the title several times, but Omega eventually landed the One Winged Angel to retain.
Ospreay has made it clear that he wants to face Omega on his own terms at AEW All In on August 30. Omega’s decision to drop him after the handshake just turned that potential championship match into something far more personal. Ospreay didn’t complain, demand an apology or explain himself. Two words were enough to let Omega know the fight has officially started.
